In the past four years the Swiss SharePoint specialist,
itsystems AG, created the product MatchPoint next to its mere
project business. Now the successful SharePoint application
framework, awarded by the Gartner Group, is being transformed into
an own business.
After several years of development work and considerable
investments of the IT service provider, itsystems AG, there is now
a fully developed product available, which has already demonstrated
its ability in different national and international SharePoint
projects. To ensure further growth of the service provider
(itsystems AG) as well as that of the business products (new:
Colygon AG), itsystems decided to initiate a new phase in the form
of a spin-off product.
"This step is the logical consequence", says Urs Brawand,
managing director of itsystems AG. "After proof over the
demand of numerous MatchPoint clients has been provided, we want to
transfer this business unit into an own company. This way both
itsystems (service provider) and the new Colygon (product
manufacturer) can concentrate on their own business models and the
different business fields can then develop much easier and
quicker", he continues.
"With the application of MatchPoint the overall effort for a
SharePoint project is reduced by at least 30 percent", says CEO of
the new founded Colygon AG, Gian-Franco Salvato. "A lot of tedious
programming is no longer necessary and can be replaced by easier
and more efficient configuration." This is especially interesting
for SharePoint service providers, so Salvato, who has been in
charge of the MatchPoint business unit at itsystems AG since last
fall and brings with him a lot of experience in guiding and
developing start-ups in the IT field.
SharePoint service providers are the target group of the new
founded Colygon AG, which has undertaken the task of the
international distribution of MatchPoint.
"The goal is to find certified partners and resellers, who use
our product for their customer projects, first in the most
important European countries and then also worldwide", explains
Patrick Püntener, who as a member of business management and as
sales director holds office for the new company. Püntener is a
cofounder of itsystems AG and also a member of the board.
Third member of business management of the start-up is CTO Dario
Zogg, who led the development of the framework from the beginning.
"With MatchPoint we solve a number of challenges, which present
themselves in SharePoint projects, beforehand. On the developers
side we reduce the complexity and simplify change management and
maintenance. For the user MatchPoint offers intuitive interfaces
and enhances data quality", so the CTO.
For the foundation of an enterprise Colygon AG is starting out
with 10 employees, 35 clients and 65,000 sold
client-access-licenses - and eight MatchPoint partners who were
already won over. Success seems guaranteed - and the business goals
are accordingly ambitious: by the end of the year 30 further
partners are expected to go with MatchPoint.
