We are very excited that Microsoft is raising the awareness of the "SharePoint Taxonomy" - a technology that we have been pioneering for almost four years.

Many customers are wondering what added value MatchPoint provides with SharePoint 2010. After all, if you need a taxonomy, why not use Microsoft's Term Store? Indeed the Term Store does have some nice features like Office integration and a simple tagging interface.

However, MatchPoint offers far more.  It allows you to implement more complex scenarios, provides a much better user-experience and higher performance.  In particular, MatchPoint takes the SharePoint taxonomy to the next level through:

• A beautifully crafted user-interface for fast searching and results-refinement, using Ajax for responsive experience
• Scalable semantic metadata model enables efficient working with a large taxonomy
• Ability to tag not just list-items, but also SharePoint containers such as site-collections, webs, folders
• Relationships between tag groups
